In 2016 Switzerland will host the first Olympics for cyborgs (Cybathlon). This extraordinary event would take place in the Swiss Arena Kloten, Zurich, on 8 October 2016. The Cyborg Olympics is organized and sponsored by ETH Zurich and will include the following six disciplines: BCI Race, Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) Bike Race, Powered Arm Prosthesis Race, Powered Leg Prosthesis Race, Powered Exoskeleton Race, Powered Wheelchair Race.

And now hundreds of people from 21 countries are preparing for Cybathlon 2016. This is a great idea to organize a sporting social event at such a high level, where the most modern robotic assistive technologies will help people with disabilities to compete all obstacles in an exciting series of races.

Cyborg Olympics 2016 will award two categories of awards for every tournament: one for the par-athlete and one for the person (scientist or company) who created the prosthetic or robotic assistive device. For example, such devices: latest prosthetics, various types of artificial limbs (powered knee prosthesis, wearable arm prosthesis), exoskeletons, modern and functional powered wheelchairs, electrically stimulated muscles and most technologically advanced brain-computer interfaces.
